It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the holidays! One of my favorite things about them is getting together with friends and family to celebrate. A party is not complete without delicious food. In my family, we typically all bring a dish for holiday gatherings. Since the holidays are especially hectic with three young kids, I always try to bring something that is not only yummy but also quick and easy to make. One appetizer I will definitely be creating this holiday season is a three-ingredient appetizer featuring Gorton’s Shrimp Popcorn Shrimp. I call this appetizer Fiesta Shrimp because it tastes like a party in your mouth!
I chose to prepare my Fiesta Shrimp appetizer with Gorton’s Shrimp because they are a freezer staple, which you can find at H-E-B. Gorton’s Shrimp is preserved for freshness for whenever you need them and customizable to whatever you need them for. Plus, with a fresh taste and a quick cook time, Gorton’s shrimp is an easy way to incorporate more seafood into your diet.
Shrimp is a good source of protein, rich in vitamins and minerals, non-GMO, and immunity-boosting. You can cook some for a quick snack and save the rest for another time, prepare an entire pack for the whole family, or incorporate the shrimp into your meal prep routine.
With Gorton’s, holiday cooking is as easy as 1-2-3! To create Fiesta Shrimp at home you will need the following three ingredients:
- Gorton’s Popcorn Shrimp
- Two Ripe Avocados
- One Jar of Salsa
I followed the preparation instructions off of the Gorton’s Shrimp box, and they came out perfect.
First preheat your oven to 425 degrees, then place the shrimp on a metal baking pan. Once your oven is done preheating, place the shrimp in the oven for 14-16 minutes, and flip them after 8 minutes of cooking.
While the shrimp is baking, slice open your avocados and cut them into one-inch pieces. If you plan on leaving the avocado out for a while, I suggest squeezing some lemon or lime juice on them to prevent them from browning.
After the shrimp are done cooking, remove them from the oven, and place them onto the dish you will be serving them from. I used plastic appetizer dishes and forks (because who really wants to wash dishes post-party?) and placed 3-4 shrimp in each cup.
Once you are done plating the shrimp, pour a spoonful of salsa onto each and top it off with a piece of the cut avocado.
For the salsa, I used a hot one because I am from Louisiana and we like things spicy. Any type of salsa will work. You could even pick a few flavors and have different salsa variations for guests to try.
If you have guests that really love avocados, another way to make this appetizer would be to half the avocados. Then, place the shrimp and salsa on the halves so that the avocado becomes your serving dish.
This appetizer is super easy to make and is sure to be a hit at your next party. Thanks for following along and please let me know if you try out quick and easy Fiesta Shrimp recipe for your next party!
