In September of 2017, our family moved into a brand-new home. We love our home, but all of the walls were painted exactly the same color. I told myself that after we moved in I would add my personal touches to the house, and even paint some of the walls including one of the walls in my daughter McKenna’s room. Well, it’s June of 2019 and I am just getting around to the painting project but hey that’s life! I guess everything happens for a reason though because earlier this year McKenna was diagnosed with Asthma and given an inhaler. That being said, I am extra careful about what products I use in my home, which is why EasyCare Ultra Premium Paint was the perfect choice for this DIY paint project.
I say this because EasyCare Paint is certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) for its interior paints in flat, eggshell and satin sheens and all colorants. EasyCare Interior Paint minimizes irritants and pollutants in the air, creating a healthier indoor environment allowing you to enjoy newly painted spaces sooner. Since EasyCare Paint is low-odor, low-VOC and 100% acrylic I don’t have to worry about McKenna being irritated by emissions from the paint. EasyCare Paint is also durable and stain-resistant which is perfect for her and her tiny hands!
You can find EasyCare Paint at True Value stores nationwide and many independent paint and hardware retailers. It is a paint-and-primer in one in one and available in 5 sheens; which comes in flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss and gloss sheens in both interior and exterior paint.

McKenna’s room is a beach theme so I decided to paint a feature wall in her room inspired by the colors of the ocean. I wanted to paint waves so it somewhat resembles what it looks like when you are looking off into the horizon over the ocean. To get started I picked out a few paint chips and compared them to some of the pillows and decorative pieces I already had in McKenna’s room. After narrowing down my color choices, I went with three colors, EasyCare Paint Blue Wave, EasyCare Paint Island Blue, and EasyCare Paint Sea Wallin the eggshell sheen. As you can see, the colors I picked out even have beach-related names!
Before I got started I made sure I had everything I needed, including a ladder, tape measure, drop cloth, and painter’s tape to prepare the wall for painting. I then measured the walls and taped off the borders.
Once I prepped the space, I painted the entire wall in Sea Wall which was the base color of my feature wall. Once it dried I marked my lines for the bottom border of the waves and taped them off. I made sure to use a sharp edge painter’s tape so that the lines would be crisp and then painted the larger waves in Island Blue. I marked off the height of the wave with a pencil across the wall, then freehanded to achieve the waviness. After two coats, I let it dry and moved onto the lower, darker wave using Blue Wave. I marked off the height like before and freehanded this one with two coats as well. Once the paint dried, I removed the tape and was left with a beachy blue wave wall. I then put everything back in its place and admired my work!
EasyCare Paint dries really fast, so I was able to complete the whole wall in one day from start to finish. I can honestly say during this whole process I could barely smell the paint and there was no new paint smell lingering through my house. I even asked guests that came over that day if they could smell anything and they said no!
I did this project while McKenna was at school, so when she got home she was so excited to see the new paint on her wall. She said it looked amazing which made me happy that I was finally able to mark this project off of my to-do list thanks to EasyCare Paint!
