Looking for kid-friendly activities in your city? I know I always am. In this series I will be featuring five kid-friendly activities in my city of Dallas. The first of these is the zoo.
I love going to the zoo so much that I decided to buy a yearly pass. This was a great purchase for me because it allows me and guests free admission to visit the zoo anytime of the year. It also includes free parking. For less than $100/year I have been able to take several of my family members and friends to the zoo. Lots of zoos do this type of membership, and sometimes it is tax deductible. For more information on the Dallas Zoo’s membership levels and benefits you can click here.
On our most recent visit to the zoo we saw lots of animals. McKenna’s favorite animal was the gorilla. The Dallas Zoo has a really nice gorilla exhibit and you can get very close to them (as you can see in the picture below). One of my best friends came with us for her first visit to the Dallas Zoo. We went on a Saturday evening because during the summer the zoo has a summer concert series and keeps the zoo open late. They also had a beer garden and food trucks as part of the festivities. One of the nice things about the zoo is that you can bring your own food and drink in, this helps if you are on a budget or have dietary restrictions. The staff does check your ice chest before you enter to make sure that you are not trying to sneak in alcoholic beverages.
Even though it was a little warm outside and McKenna had a temper tantrum it was a very pleasant day for us. I am looking forward to our next activity. Subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss it!
