I am always last minute on picking out a Mother’s Day Gift. I know my mom so well, but I always find I struggle to find her a unique gift. This year I decided to put extra thought into it and I still came up with nothing. Since my mom is a teacher she has the summers off. In her spare time she likes to read A LOT! I figured getting her a few new books for the summer would be a good gift. Wandering through Barnes and Noble I stumbled upon the adult coloring books section. I’ve heard they are supposed to be therapeutic. Since my mom deals with the stress of little munchkins everyday and she loves art, I thought this would be a good gift to throw in with some of the books I picked out. I ended up finding one that was a nautical theme with various bible verses. I loved this because McKenna’s nursery is a beach theme. Hopefully my mom will color one of the pages for McKenna. I want to frame it and put in her room as a nice keepsake for her to have. You can find the one I got my mom here on Amazon.
Now back to the books… I rarely read anything that doesn’t pertain to my job. I work in the Oil & Gas Industry (I’ll talk move about that in a later post). Finding good books (that my mother hasn’t already read) was challenging. After some research here are the Top 5.
- Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave – This book was released today. It already has a ton of great reviews.
- A Lowcountry Wedding by Mary Alice Monroe – This book was also released today. It takes place in the romantic city of Charleston.
- Beach Town by Mary Kay Andrews – I thought this book would be fitting for our family trip to the beach.
- See Me by Nicholas Sparks – You can’t go wrong with any book by Nicholas Sparks.
- Me Before You by Jojo Moyes – This was released in 2013, but is being turned into a movie with a realease date of June3, 2016. Great Mother’s Day Gift for someone who wants to read it before the movie comes out.
