The Baby Gear Show Recap

Baby Gadgets/ Gift Ideas

As I mentioned in my previous post, I would be doing following up about The Baby Gear Show.  Last weekend McKenna and I attended The Baby Gear Show, which is an event series, which was founded by Bump Club & Beyond. I had a great time, McKenna, was not so entertained (see pics below). Don’t worry, once she got a balloon her pouty face turned into a big smile. The event took place at Nordstrom Galleria Dallas and Jamie Grayson, TheBabyGuyNYC, hosted it. The show was before regular store hours in the baby section of Nordstrom. We were served a light breakfast, then we took our seats around what looked like the exact set up of a fashion show runway, but instead of models in clothing, Jamie presented baby gear like he was Vanna White. Once the show started Jamie walked us through several products from diaper bags to strollers and pretty much everything in between. Since he covered so much I have decided to pick a few of my favorite things, some of which are very new to the market.

Nuna Pipa Carseat & Base – This car seat is way nicer than the one I purchased. It comes in a variety of colors and is adaptable to the Nuna MIXX Stroller. The main selling feature for me beside its super sleek look is the fact that it has a leg that extends to the ground from the base for added stability. This prevents the car seat from rocking back and forth and it also increases the safety of this car seat.

Skip Hop ‘Uplift’ Multi Level Bouncer Seat – This is a bouncer seat that elevates to couch height (34 inches) with a crank. This allows parents to keep their babies on the floor in their bouncer rather than setting them on a table or chair where they could fall off. It is also nice if you would like to put your child next to you while you are in bed at eye level so you can take a nap while they do. (wink wink)

The Babyzen Yoyo – So I have really really really wanted one of these, but haven’t pulled trigger since I technically already have a stroller I use for travel. This stroller is awesome to say the least. It folds down and can fit in the overhead bin of an airplane. For someone who travels as much as McKenna and I do, this can become very handy. Being able to bring your stroller in the cabin of the airplane saves you wait time at the gate, so you can just get off the plane and go, and it also prevents your stroller from being damaged during travel because the cargo staff isn’t going to take care of your belongings the way you would.

In honor of National Baby Safety Month, for parents with children still using the latch system, here is one safety lesson I learned at The Baby Gear Show. The maximum weight capacity for using the latch system is a combined total of 65 pounds between your child and the car seat. Keep this in mind once your child gets bigger.
