Destination Destin – Our 2016 4th of July Trip

Little Me and Free/ Travel

First of all, sorry I have been MIA on the blogging lately. I just took a week off of work to go to Destin, FL for my family’s annual 4th of July trip. With that being said, I hardly took my computer out because I was too busy soaking up the sun and playing with McKenna.

The water was clear and warm and the weather was the best it had ever been. We spent most of our days at the pool or the beach, with the exception of a taking a few hours to go shopping at the local outlet mall.

Every morning my mom cooked breakfast for us and we sat on the balcony to drink coffee, eat, and enjoy each other’s company.

This was the view from our balcony.

McKenna was NOT a fan of the beach for the first couple of days. We bought a tiny swimming pool and set it up for her on the beach under an umbrella. This helped out a lot. After a few days of seeing everyone else having fun in the sand, she decided to tough it out and get sandy with the rest of them!

There were over 50 people from multiple families that we met down there.  Almost everyone there was from Louisiana, and that means good cooks. Every night a few families would get together and cook for the whole crew. We would spend time outside eating and watching the kids play in the courtyard.  My favorite recipe was a white chocolate bread pudding, I am not a fan of fruit in my bread pudding so this one was perfect! I will be posting the recipe soon.

On the night of the fourth we walked to the beach and watched fireworks. We could see them going off miles down the beach. It was a great experience!

Seven days at the beach seems like a long time but it went by so quickly. We got to do a lot of relaxing and it was good to recharge our batteries. It was sad leaving the beach and my parents; at least we have next year to look forward to! : )
