#ItsAColorfulLife: Let’s Take a Family MayCation

Food/ Little Me and Free

It’s May, which means it’s officially about to be summertime aka my favorite time of the year. School is out for the kids, and here in Texas, it gets really hot. Our family is always looking for ways to spend time together and beat the Texas heat. One way we do this is by taking mini staycations or shall I say MayCations, to my brother’s swimming pool. Luckily my brother lives in Houston too, so it is only about a 10-minute drive to get to his place. Our family loves gathering at the pool for some fun in the sun. McKenna recently finished her first session of swimming lessons, so my husband likes to work with her on her swimming, and Rylan loves to splash in the water! On our most recent trip to the pool, my mom and dad came too. My mom hung out in the shallow end with Rylan most of the day, and my dad accidentally forgot his swimsuit! Since you can’t have a pool party without something tropical to drink, we packed Tampico juices with us.Tampico is the imaginatively curious juice drink that helps your family live its most colorful life! They have 13 flavors, and we can’t wait to try them all! We just happened to bring their original flavor, Citrus Punch, and Blue Raspberry both in the gallon size with us for our pool day. McKenna and I enjoyed the Blue Raspberry, which has the taste of blueberries and raspberries. My mom, Jamye, loves oranges, so she chose Citrus Punch, which includes the flavor of oranges, lemons, and tangerines. Since we love drinking Tampico, over the next five months I will be incorporating various flavors into family activities that you can recreate with your own family. In addition to capturing all of our activities through pictures, our family will also be creating a colorful scrapbook to document our adventures. I love scrapbooking, so I am glad that I can share this creative outlet with McKenna. We had such a fun time picking out the scrapbook, paper, and stickers to put in it. McKenna chose a red scrapbook and a book filled with lots of fun, colorful paper, and tropical themed stickers to put on the pages. With my help, we picked out our favorite pictures from our pool day to include in the scrapbook. We had such a hard time choosing which ones we wanted to use so we filled up four scrapbook pages. McKenna’s favorite part was putting all of the vibrant stickers on the pages. While we were working on the pages McKenna told me how much fun she was having with me and that she loves scrapbooking! I was just happy to see her creative side.

Be sure to stay tuned for next month’s activity! I will be showing you some of our family’s favorite neighborhood spots in East Downtown Houston. Plus, when you join us and follow along you can create your own Summer Scrapbook Challenge with Tampico.
