Wedding Wednesday – The Proposal

Wedding

I am officially a married woman as of last Saturday, so you can now call me Mrs. Bordes. In honor of my wedding, I am going to start featuring various aspects and events leading up to my “Big Day.” To start off I am going to share with you the details of my proposal, but first I need to give you a little background on Randy and me.

Our love story starts all the way back in the fall of 2007. I was working at a bar after an LSU football game and I collected Randy’s money at the door. He told one of my girlfriends he was interested in me, and he got my number that night. The following week, he took me on our first date. We went to Bonefish Grill. He was worried about his truck breaking down, so he ended up leaving it running while we ate dinner. We ended up dating for about 8 months.

After I got a job out of town, we broke up and I moved to Dallas, TX. We dated again about 4 years later. I was traveling a lot for work, and for some reason or another, things didn’t work out.

A few years later, I ended up having a baby. Her name is McKenna and who is now 3 years old. Randy and I started dating long distance for the third time right after McKenna turned one. This time around I knew things were different. We were both were ready to be all in, and wanted to make things work. So after dating long distance, I agreed to move from Dallas to Houston. They say 3rd time’s a charm, and after 10 years on our journey, we got engaged September 27, 2017.

The day of the proposal, I had been unpacking boxes all day because we had just moved into our new home together. I had no makeup on, and was looking like a hot mess. When Randy got home from work that day, he told me wanted to go do something nice and go to dinner. So I went to finish putting some of the items from a box away in another room when he called me to come into our bedroom. There he was, standing with McKenna next to him. McKenna handed me a box and said “Here you go Momma.” Randy then got down on one knee, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Then I started crying and was in shock about the whole thing, but I did manage to get a “yes” in. We both hugged and McKenna joined in. I just remember being so excited and thankful to have someone in my life who loved me and McKenna so much. It was truly a day I will never forget.
