McKenna’s 2nd Birthday & Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

Little Me and Free

Well, McKenna is officially two years old! It feels like just the other day I was on the way to the hospital to have her. In honor of her birthday I hosted an ugly Christmas sweater party on Saturday, December 17th, which is her actual birthday. We had a little over 30 people attend. With that being said here is a recap of her birthday party.img_9172img_9084dsc00788dsc00755 dsc00765 dsc00779Since I didn’t host a huge party for her first birthday, I decided that for her 2nd Birthday Party I needed to step up my Pinterest game and get to work. Mostly adults were attending so I had to have things for adults and children to do.

As far as food goes, I had Cane’s chicken tenders because those are a big hit with kids and adults. My boyfriend and I made a delicious Buffalo Chicken Dip, and since I am from Louisiana my family brought Boudin with them from a local shop in my hometown. To showcase some of my Pinterest skills I made Grinch Kabobs, White Chocolate Covered Strawberry Santa Hats, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, & Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods.img_9074img_9080img_9076img_9073 img_9072Most good parties have good cocktail options so I had multiple mixers, with fresh fruit to add in with several spirits, wines, beer, and champagne. I finally got to put my bar area to good use, and clear all the mail and clutter that had been stacking up over the past year. One of my favorite features was the Sip Sip Hooray picture that was made by Sprinkled Designs. I also made Red Sangria from a recipe that one of my past coworkers who is from Spain gave me. The Sangria seemed to be the drink of choice for most people at the party.img_9070For entertainment we played pin the nose on Rudolph and I made an “Elfie Wall” that included Christmas selfie props and a Christmas themed selfie stick. A Christmas party wouldn’t be complete without Christmas Crackers for popping, plus the kids love them. For the kids I baked cookies in the shape of sweaters so they could decorate their ugly sweater sugar cookies to take home with them. I also gave out a prize to the winner of the ugliest Christmas sweater. The winner ended up being my grandpa! lolimg_9145img_9151 img_9083 img_9088dsc00800 dsc00807The ugly Christmas sweater party was a bit stressful since I had never had that many people at my house or hosted one on my own, but it was a huge success! I want to thank everyone who came out for McKenna’s big day. She had a great time and so did I!dsc00824 dsc00871 dsc00854 dsc00829 dsc00888

A special thanks to Sprinkled Designs for creating the custom birthday signs, water labels, and food tents for McKenna’s birthday!
